Quilting with Rulers – the Basics
Would you like to quilt your own quilts on your domestic sewing machine or stationary longarm (also called sit-down machines) using rulers, but don’t know how to start? If you are at least a Confident Beginner in Free-Motion quilting, this lecture/demo is for you. It will give you the foundation you’ll need, including which ruler foot and rulers will work with your machine, how to choose rulers with the best features, and how to use them.
This Zoom “basics” lecture/demo will help prepare you for taking a hands-on class in free-motion quilting with rulers.
Part 2 & 3
Free-Motion Quilting with Rulers
Learn what you need to know in order to free-motion quilt with rulers on your domestic machine or stationary long arm (sit-down) machine. Using just two rulers, with little to no marking, stitch lines, grids, and arcs to create a variety of designs, many becoming the framework to contain your freehand fills and motifs. This hands-on Zoom class will be held in two parts, 3 hours each, one week apart.
Norma’s “Quilting with Rulers – the Basics” lecture/demo is required before taking the hands-on class.
Necessary Rulers are sold separately.
*Must be at least a confident beginner in free-motion quilting. Donna Hamill’s “Introduction to Free-Motion Quilting” class will give you the preparation you need.
Must have a computer with access to Zoom and a sewing machine in good working order.
